OUR STORY

I have been teaching 4 and 5 points English for close to a decade when the Ministry of Education announced its changes in the curriculum, which, as you all know, included the oral Bagrut – The COBE, I wasn’t sure how to proceed… How will I get my students to speak confidently and fluently in just a few months?! I wracked my brains, not knowing where to start. My goal was to make my students feel confident talking about any given topic, without prior preparation. Learning lists of questions and writing their answers on paper didn’t make sense to me – it doesn’t serve its purpose and obviously, doesn’t give the students the tools and skills necessary to lead a fluid conversation. To fulfill this need, the idea of the “TALKBOX” originated.

What's TALKBOX

TALKBOX is a kit that includes a set of 400 question cards divided into 20 topics, (based on the list of topics provided by the Ministry of Education in preparation for the COBE). On the back of each card there is a list of words related to the topic of the question, divided into 3 columns: verbs, adjectives and nouns. (see samples at the bottom of this page)

The kit also includes a detailed teacher’s guide that will give you clear instructions and varied ideas on how to best use the kit and enjoy it to its greatest extent.

TALKBOX promotes accuracy and fluency and equips students with effective conversational skills. In addition, the cards feature thought-provoking questions that trigger animated discussions in the classroom.

TALKBOX was originally created for 4 and 5 point students, but can be easily adapted to weaker students as well.
